I was lucky enough to see the movie "Insight" at the Newport Beach film festival. It is a clever and unique psychological thriller, skillfully directed by Richard Gabai. In this era of excess over substance, it was refreshing to see a smart, character-driven film that had me on the edge of my seat. There is nothing more exciting that getting completely involved in the journey of a film where you are surprised again and again by the unexpected turns of the story. It is a great cast whose choices and character arcs are beautifully realized. This is the value and importance of independent film making. Go see this wonderful film.
If the full film captivates me as much as the trailer does, this will be one of the best movies I've seen in, oh, a decade or so. I don't want to give my ideas on what I think the film might be about, because truly, there are many different paths the story could take. Few releases make me want to see them on the big screen. I usually wait for the DVD release. INSIGHT, however, has given me the taste for theater popcorn again.
